Advocacy

We take our role as a united voice for Arizona’s foster, adoptive and kinship families seriously.  Over the past three years we have made significant progress in ‘sitting at the table’ as important decisions are made by elected officials and policymakers about issues involving foster care and adoption.

bulletAZAFAP members have been an integral part of every committee working on the Governor’s CPS Reform.  We continue to provide oversight and follow-up to committee recommendations.
bulletPast DES Directors have participated in quarterly ‘Discussions with the Director” that allow foster and adoptive parents to provide direct input to the decision makers at the Arizona Department of Economic Security.
bulletTo create awareness of Foster Care Awareness month in May, members of the Association delivered a doll with a true story of a child in the foster care system to each member of the Arizona legislature to remind them that the decisions they make impact ‘real children’ in foster care every day.

WE HAVE LONG WAY TO GO!

We welcome your input, suggestions and participation in our activities to advocate for the children in our care.

Please contact AZAFAP legislative chairman Ron Clanton at Doveloft1@iglide.net to get involved.
