Parent Training: Adoption or Guardianship
This session is designed for families caring for children in the custody of DCS who are considering making the important decision to pursue adoption or permanent guardianship.
Participants will learn about the adoption and permanent guardianship process, including important topics such as:
- The importance of permanency for children
- Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their impact
- Birth parent rights and considerations
- Visitation and maintaining connections
- Legal responsibilities, liability, and court involvement
- Available support and resources
- Benefits and financial considerations
- Planning for the child’s future
